Explanation of different kinds of pianos
There are many kinds of pianos and piano styles out there. Taller pianos are called a different name than shorter pianos. Also, usually the taller or longer the piano the better. Piano technology is a few hundred years old and hasn't changed that much but some of the subtle changes have had significantly improved the sound and quality of the piano. I remember getting in a 7 ft grand piano which is a rather large grand piano and it sounded terrible. The reason was that the hammers inside the piano (the mechanism that hits the strings) was covered in leather instead of felt. The leather made the sound of the piano extremely quiet when a 7 ft grand piano should have a very loud and full sound.
